About

The Challenge

Mohammad needs to wear glasses to correct his vision, but doesn’t like wearing them because the arms dig in after long periods. Mohammad would like a comfortable, durable and modular alternative to a standard glasses arm, so that he can still participate in the different activities that he loves.

This project reflects work we were involved in previously; however, the design no longer aligns with our current focus due to the nature of the solution or the challenge. We are now more mindful of the safety and suitability of DIY design solutions. We share this in the spirit of acknowledging the valuable contributions of our volunteers and supporting open collaboration.

The Concept

Team Mohammad designed a printable attachment for a standard glasses frame with interchangeable arms to suit Mohammad’s needs. The arm options include a flexible plant wire, neoprene strap and a standard temple design. These interchangeable arms encourage Mohammad to wear his glasses while performing the activities he loves, such as wearing his headphones, working, and playing sport.
