TOM @ University

By integrating human-centered design and the TOM Melbourne process into university curricula, students work side-by-side with Need-Knowers to develop impactful solutions. This hands-on experience not only sparks creativity but also promotes collaboration, connection, and innovation with real-world challenges.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

A Need-Knower works together with a team of students over a semester to design an assistive technology solution for an unmet need.

The TOM @ University program is an opportunity for a team of students to design and prototype a custom solution for an accessibility challenge that the Need-Knower faces. The designs are then shared open-source via the our website to help others with similar needs.

“What makes TOM @ University so great is that we’re working with real people with real problems and we’re co-designing with them rather than using a hypothetical brief”
