About

The Challenge

Lorraine would like to draw more independently at the art class she attends each Tuesday. Currently Lorraine wears a strap on her hand with a small insert for a pencil and her support worker guides her hand or elbow. Lorraine would like a device that can stabilise her movement and allow her to draw on her own.

The Concept

The team developed a three-part solution to Lorraine’s challenge.

The ‘Art-Grip’ consists of a magnetic art board, hand strap for her tools, and a self-adjusting arm rest which all work together to increase Lorraine’s control of her art tools. The art board and arm rest are modular and can be used for painting, drawing, or crafts.
