The Challenge

SEEDs Communal garden in Brunswick runs a composting initiative where garden group participants collect food waste from the local businesses to process at the garden in their commercial dehydrator. The food scraps are collected in 20L buckets which can be heavy and difficult to lift. Monash University Industrial Design students worked on developing solutions to help lift the buckets.

The Solution

The students designed a collar shaped handle that can be fitted to buckets that allows easier carrying by two people or carrying with two hands. This handle also helps to lift the buckets up to the dehydrator to empty in the food scraps.
