Morgan is a young woman who runs a candle-making business, Bee & Candle by Morgan.
She has come to TOM Melbourne because she wants to make her production process more efficient than it currently is.
Morgan experiences challenges with strength and fine motor skills. She is interested in exploring new tools or products that could support her existing process, making production easier and allowing her to work more independently.
The project resulted in a set of practical, task-specific tools designed to support different parts of Morgan’s candle-making process. These include a 3D-printed wick holder to assist with consistent alignment, a modular system of candle holders to stabilise moulds during pouring, and a padded arm support to reduce strain and improve control when handling hot wax.
In addition, a dedicated holder was developed to better support the making of Morgan’s beehive candles, addressing issues of stability and centring specific to that form. Rather than relying on a single device, the solution takes a flexible, modular approach allowing Morgan to use individual tools or combine them depending on the candle type and task.
