About

The Challenge

Kaspar is a secondary student with complex communication needs. Kaspar and his classmates use an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device to communicate but they are not always readily accessible. Kaspar needed a solution which could mount the communication device to his wheelchair allowing him to express himself without the assistance of a carer or teacher.

Please note the design file relates to the yellow communication book stand, clear acrylic design to be updated shortly.

The Concept

Team Kaspar developed a 3 part solution including a stand, collapsible wheelchair mount and a storage case which allowed Kaspar to easily store and use the communication device on his wheelchair. The communication book stand could be easily detached from the mount and used freely (i.e on a table or on the floor).
