The Challenge

Bianca is a passionate mosaic artist who works with workshop instructor Ruth at her local art space. Bianca is looking for an assistive device to help her operate glass cutters with only one side of her body. Ruth and Bianca are seeking a safe, versatile and cost-effective solution that can be utilised by other artists.

The Solution

The students designed a pedal-operated glass cutter that can mount to most tables. The device has an adjustable clamp for inserting a glass cutter or any other type of tool that requires squeezing force. The device is best used with a rubber-lined wheeled nipper.
