About

Joanne has a condition that causes weakness on the left side of her body as well as balance difficulties. She has found Lawn Bowls to be a very rewarding game as it is something she can play against people without disabilities and be competitive. She currently requires someone to be on green with her to pick up the Bowls from the ground.  Without this support she fatigues rapidly and is unable to complete a game. She would like a device that assists with lifting Lawn Bowls from the ground for someone with limited use one arm. Existing Bowls lifters require two arms for use.

The Solution

This lightweight lawn bowls lifting aid is designed to make picking up bowls easier, safer, and more comfortable. Using a simple one-way hinged flap mechanism, the device can be dropped directly over the bowl with one hand. Once in place, the flaps automatically form a stable platform beneath the bowl, allowing it to be lifted smoothly and securely.

The lifting aid can be used one-handed with the support of a shoulder strap, eliminating the need to bend down. When not in use, there is a magnetic stowing feature that allows for easy carrying of the aid over the shoulder. Weighing just 250 g, it is easy to carry, unobtrusive during play, and simple to use without complex adjustments.
