About

The Challenge

Lana was interested in the seat crutches solution, originally developed at the 2016 TOM: Melbourne Makeathon, to provide a safe and reliable way to rest on the go. TOM Developer Groups in 2018 worked alongside Lana to adapt the seat crutches to suit her needs as she grows up.

This project reflects work we were involved in previously; however, the design no longer aligns with our current focus due to the nature of the solution or the challenge. We are now more mindful of the safety and suitability of DIY design solutions. We share this in the spirit of acknowledging the valuable contributions of our volunteers and supporting open collaboration.

The Concept

Lana’s team adapted a tripod seat walking stick to create a stool that turns into a crutch when folded. This solution utilises Lana’s existing crutches.
